Teacher Alex has been a bilingual educator since 2016. She started at the Kent School District teaching groups of ESL students in reading and mathematics grades 1 and 2 in the dual-language program.

Alex is currently wrapping up her certification for K-8 bilingual education through Western Governors University and plans to continue with a Master’s program. Before she was inspired to pursue a career in education, Alex was a medical interpreter, a property manager, and a real estate agent.

Born in Switzerland, with her family having immigrated from Peru; her love of language and culture has always led her to opportunities where she could utilize her skills to bridge communication, educate, and help others.

When she enrolled her son in Dancing Pines (what was Well Trained Mind Montessori at the time) to begin his Montessori education, Alex fell in love with the Montessori philosophy and witnessed first-hand the positive impacts it had on his development.

When she’s not working, she is running after her two active boys, spending time outdoors with her family, and working on school.
